Third Piper Community Arts has been operating in Chesterfield, NE Derbyshire and Bolsover Districts since 1985. We believe that creativity in all of its forms should be accessible to everyone....

Charitable status was granted in 2005 and our area of benefit extended to embrace the whole of Derbyshire.

Community Arts is all about people using their creative ideas and exploring them with the help of arts workers. The process of taking part is often more important than the end product although Third Piper recognises the value to the community of high standard Art.

Third Piper took its name from the two coal seams that have dominated the economic life of the North Eastern part of Derbyshire for many years. The two seams known as First and Second Piper gave rise to the Third Piper name.

The work we do covers a massive range, but it generally falls into the following areas :-

Crafts:

stained glass, candle making, mask making, batik, traditional crafts and lore ...

one day workshops, puppet �workshops, �devising, world dance ...

Environmental:

tree dressings, outdoor crafts, well dressings, work with �Countryside Rangers ...

Information technology:

using music keyboards, cameras, videos and multimedia in conjunction with computers to explore the creativity of groups and individuals ...

Writing:

scripting for drama, writing of books, reminiscence ...
